Thigh Lift

A thigh lift is a surgical procedure aimed at reshaping and contouring the thighs by removing excess skin and fat. It is typically performed to address issues such as sagging skin and tissue in the thigh area, which can result from factors like aging, weight loss, or genetics. This procedure is often sought by individuals who are unhappy with the appearance of their thighs and want a more toned and youthful look.

Types of Thigh Lifts:

Dr. Green usually does what is known as a “spiral” thigh lift, where the skin excision extends as a spiral starting from the front groin area, around the inner thigh towards the buttock. This allows the thigh lift to be effective with the most inconspicuous scarring. In patients who have unusually loose skin it may be necessary also to do a vertical skin excision along the inner thigh to remove the skin in this direction and to tighten and shaped the thigh properly. In most cases we do not do a thigh lift at all but initially treat the anterior, medial, and posterior thighs with liposuction with satisfactory results.

Good candidates for thigh lifts are typically individuals who:

  • Have lost a significant amount of weight and have excess sagging skin.
  • Experience skin laxity and sagging due to aging.
  • Have realistic expectations about the results.
  • Are in good overall health and do not smoke.

Procedure & Recovery

A thigh lift is performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Green will make incisions in the thigh area, which may vary in length and location depending on the type of thigh lift. Excess skin and fat are removed, and the remaining tissue is repositioned and tightened. Sutures are used to close the incisions.

Recovery time can vary, but most patients can expect to take a week or two off work and avoid strenuous activities for several weeks. Swelling and bruising are common after the surgery, and a compression garment may be recommended to reduce swelling and support the healing process.

Risks & Results

Like any surgical procedure, thigh lifts come with potential risks and complications, which may include infection, scarring, bleeding, asymmetry, or changes in sensation. It’s essential to discuss these risks with your surgeon during the consultation.

The final results of a thigh lift may not be fully visible until several months after the surgery when swelling has subsided and the tissues have settled. With proper care and maintenance, the results can be long-lasting.

Procedure Cost

The cost of a thigh lift varies depending on factors such as the type of thigh lift.
